ADMISSION TO THE J-SCHOOL:

Path 1: Direct admission from high school
Students must first meet admission requirements for the University of Kansas

Students will be considered for admission directly out of high school if they:
 
•  Admitted to KU and indicate journalism as intended major and
 •  Have composite 24 ACT/1160* SAT (or higher) and 3.0 GPA or
 •  21 ACT/1060 SAT (or higher) and 3.25 GPA

*All references to SAT scores refer to math and evidence-based reading and writing from tests taken after February 2016. For tests taken before February 2016 please use this table to convert your score.


Path 2: Transfer Students
Students must first meet admission requirements for the University of Kansas

Considered for Admission if:
   
•  Complete/enroll in 24 or more credit hours (at KU or elsewhere) with 2.5 GPA or higher and
   
•  Complete/enroll in JOUR 101 (or equivalent) by application period and earn C or higher 


Current KU Students

Considered for Admission if:
   
•  Complete/enroll in 24 or more credit hours (at KU or elsewhere) with 2.5 KU GPA or higher and
   
•  Complete/enroll in JOUR 101 by application period and earn C or higher and
   
•  Apply to J-School by Feb. 15 or Sept. 15*

Admission is competitive. If the school must set an admissions quota, students with the highest ACT (or SAT) scores and grade-point average will be accepted.

*Application is available at the beginning of each semester.
