Director of Social Media & Content, Top Rank
Ryan Greene is currently the Director of Social Media & Content for Top Rank — the country's premiere boxing promotion for more than 50 years. With more than a decade of experience in digital and social media, including brand strategy, content creation, marketing and distribution, Ryan's professional background in sports also includes years spent as a journalist and in public relations.
At Top Rank, Ryan leads an internal social media team that helps bring to life more than 30 live events per year as part of a multiyear partnership in place with ESPN. The company promotes a roster of more than 90 athletes, including some of the sport's biggest current stars, such as Vasyl Lomachenko, Terence Crawford, Tyson Fury and many more.
Prior to joining Top Rank in June 2019, Ryan most recently was with MGM Resorts International as the company's Director of Social Strategy, overseeing efforts to bring its vast sports and entertainment portfolio to life in the digital space. The role included launching high-visibility residencies, such as Lady Gaga and Aerosmith, plus the activation of several sports partnerships with Major League Baseball, the NBA and more.
A 2005 graduate from the University of Kansas with a degree in journalism with a news and information emphasis, he spent the first seven years of his professional career in the evolving newspaper industry, including covering prep sports for The Olathe News, covering KU football and men's basketball for the Lawrence Journal-World and kusports.com, then moving out of market in 2008 to cover UNLV football and men's basketball for the Las Vegas Sun. After changing careers paths in 2012, Ryan gained marketing and PR experience in several different avenues. That started with helping launch William Hill Race & Sports Book — the UK's largest race and sports bookmaker — at more than 100 locations in Nevada (2012-14). That was followed by a stint with the interactive marketing team at Aria Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip (2014). After that, Ryan helped launch Premier Boxing Champions — a fight series aired on NBC, FOX, ESPN and several other networks backed by a roster of 200+ fighters — as the company's Director of Digital Content & Communications (2014-17). That was followed by helping launch Las Vegas Lights Football Club during its inaugural season in the United Soccer League as the club's Director of Content & Communications (2017-18).
Originally from the Chicagoland area, Ryan is now an 11-year Las Vegas resident who tries to make his way back to visit Lawrence at least once per year. Rock Chalk!
