Joseph Erba is a Jayhawk who received his master’s degree from the J-School in 2008. He received his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and taught at American University in Washington, D.C., before joining the J-School. Erba’s research explores the intersection of identities, such race/ethnicity, class and gender, on message development and interpretation. He has received awards for his research exploring how racial/ethnic minority audiences respond to messages containing racial/ethnic cues.
